Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels, Explained

A chemical peel sounds more dramatic than it is. At Hanné, it is a considered treatment. It's tailored to your skin, performed in clinic, and supported by the right care at home.

SkinCeuticals professional peels are now available in clinic. Here's what they are, how they work and what to expect.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a professional exfoliating treatment. A carefully selected solution is applied to the skin. It loosens the bonds between dull, built-up surface cells so they can shed more evenly.

Your skin renews itself naturally. That process can slow with age, sun exposure and stress. A peel supports it in a controlled way.

What is it actually doing?

Think of it as a reset for the surface of your skin.

  • Exfoliation. Dead and dull cells are lifted away more evenly than a scrub can manage.

  • Renewal. The skin is encouraged to turn over, which can reveal a smoother, brighter surface.

  • Receptivity. Freshly exfoliated skin can make better use of the skincare that follows.

Who is it for?

Peels can be a good fit for skin concerns such as:

  • Dullness and uneven texture

  • Uneven tone and pigmentation

  • Congestion and breakouts

  • The appearance of fine lines

  • Rough or tired-looking skin

Every skin is different. Your clinician will assess your skin, history and routine before recommending a peel. Some skin may need preparation first. For some, a different treatment will be the better choice.

Your appointment

Your treatment begins with a conversation about your skin, your goals and anything you're currently using.

The skin is then cleansed and prepared. The peel is applied and closely monitored. A light tingling or warmth is common and usually brief. The treatment is finished with soothing care and SPF.

Most appointments take around 60 minutes.

After your peel

You may notice some redness, tightness or light flaking in the days after treatment. This varies with your skin and the peel selected. Your clinician will talk you through what to expect for you.

Aftercare matters as much as the treatment itself.

  • Wear a broad-spectrum SPF daily and reapply.

  • Keep your routine gentle. Cleanse, hydrate, protect.

  • Pause retinoids, exfoliants and active serums until advised.

  • Let flaking skin shed on its own. No picking.

  • Avoid heat, saunas and intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours.

A note on timing

As the days get longer on the South Coast, sun protection becomes non-negotiable. Freshly treated skin is more sensitive to UV. Daily SPF protects your results and your skin barrier.

One treatment or a series?

Some clients book a single peel to refresh their skin. Others benefit from a series spaced several weeks apart. Your clinician will recommend a plan that suits your skin and your goals.

Pairing with home care

A peel works best alongside a considered routine. Our SkinCeuticals skin consultation builds a personalised prescription from the range. It's designed to support your skin between treatments.

Is a peel right for me?

Peels may not be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. They may also be unsuitable with active skin infections or with certain medications and skin conditions. We'll go through this with you at your consultation.

Book a consultation

The best place to start is a conversation. Book a skin consultation with our team in Berry. We'll create a plan that feels right for your skin.

Individual results vary. All treatments are subject to a consultation and clinical assessment.
